Introduction
Connectivity shouldn’t come in the way of your Drivers getting the job done. That’s why Mover now supports Offline Mode in the Driver App. This feature allows Drivers to perform key delivery actions - like arriving at or completing a Stop - when their devices are offline.
Once back online, all offline actions automatically sync to the system. This eliminates the need for manual updates by Operations Controllers and ensures accurate reporting, smoother workflows, and improved driver autonomy.
Getting Started
Offline support is optional and needs to be enabled per Organization.
📌 Contact your internal support channels to request the offline mode activation.
Once enabled, all Drivers executing Routes owned by your Organization will be able to use Offline Mode seamlessly when driving or delivering in areas with low or absent network connectivity.
What Can Drivers Do While Offline?
In Offline mode, Drivers can do almost everything they are able to do while executing their usual Routes:
Arrive at Stops – Log arrival even without network connectivity.
Complete Stops – Finish deliveries and confirm with proof of delivery (barcode scanning, signature and/or picture).
Fail stops - Track deviations and fail stops
The Driver App will automatically:
Store Actions – All offline actions are queued securely in the app, waiting for connectivity to be restored, to be updated in the system.
Log Timestamps – The exact arrival and completion times are recorded, and shown in the TMS once connectivity is restored
Auto-Sync – When the device reconnects, the route refreshes and all actions sync back into the system.
Handle disruptive scenarios - if the phone suddenly switches off, or if the app crashes, use the “Show Route in Offline Mode” option upon reopening.
Deviation Handling
Drivers can fail stops while offline.
They can also add pictures and notes about delivery issues.
Any Return Stops created due to failed deliveries will appear in the Driver App, and in the TMS, only after the device goes online again.
Limitations
While Offline Mode is powerful, here are some limitations to keep in mind:
Route Changes Won’t Appear Offline – If Planners update the route while the driver is offline, those changes (e.g., re-ranked stops or added colli) won’t reflect until back online.
No GPS Tracking – Location history and live route lines are unavailable for the offline segment.
No Route Start/End Offline – Drivers must be online to begin or complete the Route.
Conclusion
Offline Mode brings greater resilience to your operations. By enabling drivers to complete their routes without interruption—even when the network drops—you reduce manual effort, ensure timely delivery updates, and empower drivers to handle their tasks independently.
FAQs
Can geofencing still be enforced offline?
Yes. GPS works without an internet connection. Geofencing uses GPS to confirm proximity, so even offline, drivers can only mark stops as arrived or completed when they are physically nearby.
What happens to GPS tracking data while offline?
GPS location is still available to the app, but without network access, the tracking data cannot be sent to the system. This means:
No route line will be visible for the offline portion.
That segment won’t appear in the route history.
Can a driver go offline on purpose to avoid tracking?
Technically, yes. However, strict geofencing ensures drivers cannot complete stops unless they’re physically at the stop location. This helps prevent misuse.
