Introduction
Preloading is a critical step in last-mile logistics, ensuring that packages (colli) are efficiently loaded into delivery vehicles the day before the delivery route begins.
The preloading process begins with a Planner, who creates a preloading task for a specific route. This task is then assigned to a Preloader, who will have the task of preparing the vehicle for delivery, which will be executed by a different Driver.
This guide is aimed at Preloaders and Drivers, providing a step-by-step walkthrough on how to perform a preloading task using the Driver App.
You'll learn how to launch the app, check your schedule, select and complete the preloading task, ensuring all packages are properly loaded and accounted for.
Starting the Preloading
Launch the Driver App: If assigned to a preloading task, you will receive a notification to start it directly within the Driver App. Click that notification or simply open the Driver App to start.
Check the Schedule: On the Bookings Page, click on the relevant date to view all tasks assigned to you. Preloading assignments will be listed in blue.
Select the Preloading Task: Tap on the Preloading task to access the Start screen, which provides all relevant information for the task. Pay attention to:
the Gate, that indicates where you have to bring the vehicle for the Preloading activity,
the Make/Model and License Plate, so that you will Preload the same vehicle assigned to the Route
the Instructions provided by the Planners, that will specify the details for your tasks
Click Start Preloading. The Preloading window will display a list of all the colli that must be preloaded. This overview will help you understand the scope of the task.
Executing the Preloading
Begin the Preloading Flow: The Preloading process follows the same flow as a regular Pickup task.
To report a deviation, or if the barcode is not legible, select the right action by clicking on the barcode id. These statuses help track the progress and any deviations during the Preloading process:
Monitor Deviation and Completion Statuses
Deviation statuses are highlighted in orange. These may include issues such as missing or damaged colli. To complete the reporting of aa deviation, follow the steps in the App, writing a note, and taking pictures where needed.
Loaded colli are marked in green, indicating successful preloading.
If you click on the X in the top left corner of the screen, you'll be able to leave the preloading. But remember, the execution time does not stop, and the Route will not update until you complete the Preloading. You can resume the preloading when you want.
Click Info if you want to view key information related to the preloading task.
Click Continue to proceed and click Complete to finalise the preloading.
Once done, the app will show you the recap of the Preloading task you just completed.
