Introduction

The TMS empowers Planners to efficiently manage orders, construct optimized route plans, and assign these routes to various contractors.

To complete the last-mile logistics cycle, these routes must be executed by drivers.

This guide outlines the process of adding drivers to the TMS, enabling you to effectively manage your workforce.

While most drivers are associated with contractors, the system also accommodates independent drivers who are directly employed by the organization.

How to Create a Driver Profile

  1. Go to Resources. By default the page will open at the Drivers sub-menu.

  2. Click on New Driver

  3. Add the driver's details. Key points to note here:

    • Unique Identifiers: Each driver must have a unique email address and phone number associated with their account. These details cannot be reused between organizations within the Mover system.

    1. Password Management: You can choose to set a password for the driver during the creation process. If you do, ensure you communicate this to the driver, encouraging them to change it for security reasons. Alternatively, you can leave the password field blank, requiring the driver to reset their password using the "Forgot Password" option when they first log in to the Driver app.

    2. Driver Status: We recommend creating drivers with an "Approved" status by default. This allows them to be assigned routes immediately. However, if your organization requires a two-step approval process, you can initially set the status to "Awaiting Approval" and update it once the necessary approvals are obtained.

  4. Click Create Driver.

  5. Optional: Associate a vehicle with the driver. To do so, click New Vehicle

  6. Add the vehicle details and click Create Vehicle.

When you assign a driver to a route, the system will automatically suggest a vehicle for them to use. If the driver only has one vehicle linked to their profile, that vehicle will be selected. If they have multiple vehicles, they can choose which one to use in the Driver App.

Managing Driver Profiles

All the driver profiles are visible on the Resources > Drivers page. From here, you can:

  • delete a driver

  • send a message to a driver

  • change driver information

To delete a driver, click on the Delete icon next to their profile.

To send a message to the driver (which they will receive in the Driver App), click on the Message icon next to their profile.

To change driver information, click on the driver's name, make the necessary changes and click Save Changes.

Bonus: Creating Multiple Drivers At Once

If you have a long list of drivers to add to the TMS, you can save time by using the bulk creation tool. This lets you add all your drivers without leaving the page and gives you an overview of the drivers you've already created. This way, you can easily spot any missed drivers or errors.

To do so:

  • Click Create Multiple Drivers

  • Enter the driver's information

  • Click Create Driver

  • Each driver will be listed under Results as soon as their profile is created

FAQ

Can a driver create their own profile using the Driver App?

No, drivers cannot sign up on their own. A person with access to the organization's TMS must create the driver's profile.

Will the TMS stop me from assigning a route to a driver if the payload exceeds the vehicle's capacity?

No, the TMS allows flexibility and will not prevent you from assigning a route to a driver even if the total weight of the goods exceeds the vehicle's carrying capacity.
