Introduction

Auto Contractor Assignment is a feature that automatically assigns routes to specific organizations from your fulfilment chain based on predetermined rules.

This guide will walk you through the process of setting up Auto Contractor Assignment in Mover TMS. You will learn how to create rules that automatically allocate routes to different contractors based on specific criteria.

Benefits of Using Auto Contractor Assignment

  • Increased Efficiency: Automates route assignment, saving time and reducing errors

  • Optimized Workload Distribution: Ensures proper distribution of routes among contractors

  • Improved Last-Mile Logistics Flow: Accelerates the last-mile logistics process by automating route allocation

How to Set Up Auto Contractor Assignment

Before setting up Auto Contractor Assignment, ensure you have established a Connection in the TMS between the Route Owner Organization and Contractor Organizations.

Auto Contractor Assignment will only work for routes that are planned through our Route Planning feature. Routes created manually will not be taken into account.

  • Go to Routes > Auto Contractor Assignment

  • Create a New Rule:

    • Click on New Area

    • On the map, zoom in and out to reach your desired location

    • Draw an area by clicking points on the map in the desired location

    • Define the new area:

      • Name: Something that will help you to easily identify the area

      • Priority: Enter a numerical value ( 0 - infinite) A higher priority value indicates that this rule will take precedence over rules with lower priority values in case multiple rules apply to a given route.

      • Organization: This is the target Organization (contractor) for the assigned routes

    • Click Done

    • Save Changes

    • To edit or delete the area at a later point, click the appropriate icon in the Area Overview

Use-Case Example

Imagine you operate a delivery service with multiple contractors in a metropolitan area. To optimize route assignments, you can create multiple Auto Contractor Assignments based on geographical regions and contractor expertise.

  • Rule 1: City Center area, Priority 1, Contractor A

  • Rule 2: Suburban area, Priority 2, Contractor B

When new delivery routes are generated, the TMS automatically assigns City Center Routes to Contractor A and Suburban Routes to Contractor B. If a Route overlaps the two areas, Rule 1 will prevail over Rule 2 and the Route will be assigned to Contractor B.
