Introduction
Efficient route planning is essential, but sometimes manual adjustments are necessary—whether it's redistributing workloads or making last-minute changes. That’s where our new Drag & Drop feature comes in.
It allows you to take full control of your routes by moving stops within a route or even between routes – after the route plan has been created. Best of all, built-in guardrails ensure you’re aware of any violations like weight, capacity, time constraints and even tags. The result? Greater flexibility while maintaining operational excellence.
Getting Started
Follow these steps to enable and start using Drag & Drop:
Check Permissions:
Ensure your role includes the “Edit Routeplans” permission.
Go to Organizations in the Mover platform.
Under Roles, click your role to open permission settings and verify that the “Edit Routeplans” permission is enabled.
If you’re unable to check your role's permissions, reach out to your manager for confirmation.
That’s it, simple as that! You’re ready to start customizing routes.
Route Plan Interface
This is what you can find when you open a Route Plan.
Route Overview Panel:
Breadcrumbs:
Follow your navigation trail at the top of the interface, ensuring you always know where you are. (See highlighted breadcrumbs in red).
Zoom In and Out:
Adjust the map view to see an overview of all routes or focus on specific stops.
Undo/Redo Buttons:
Quickly revert changes or redo edits with a single click.
(See highlighted options in blue).
Bottom Bar:
View key metrics such as total driving time, distance, weight, and volume in a convenient summary.
(See highlighted options in yellow)
Route Overview on the map:
Visualizes planned routes and stops for easy adjustments.
Stops connected by lines of the same color belong to the same route.
Compare Multiple Stops:
You can compare multiple routes by selecting them while holding Shift.
This will filter the map to display only the selected routes for better visibility.
Navigation Shortcuts:
Arrow Up/Down: Navigate between different routes
Arrow Left/Right: Navigate stops within a single route (after selecting a stop).
Map Auto-Centers:
When navigating with keyboard shortcuts, the map automatically pans to show the selected stop, keeping it visible at all times.
Activity Icons for Stops:
Each stop is clearly labeled with icons to indicate its type:
Highlighting Stops for Easier Identification:
Deliveries whose Pickup is at the same stop on the route are highlighted with the same color.
This makes it easy to identify which orders are on the vehicle at the same time, since they were picked up together.
Clicking on a delivery stop, will also show you the corresponding pickup:
Clicking on a pickup stop, will show you all the connected deliveries, whose colli will be picked up together:
How to Use Drag & Drop
Move a Stop Within a Route:
Drag a stop to reorder its position in the same route.
Drag a Stop to Another Route:
Move a stop from one route to another to balance workloads.
Move a Pickup Stop:
Drag and drop a pickup stop to change its position within the route or assign it to a different route.
Note: If you move a pickup stop, all related deliveries will be moved as well.
Move a Break Stop:
Adjust the placement of break stops to align with driver schedules.
Add a Break Manually:
Drag and drop the Break card from the unscheduled panel onto any route to insert a break.
• The task time is automatically taken from the break settings for the vehicle group on that route.
• If no breaks are configured, the default is 30 minutes.
Edit Stop Task Times:
Click the pencil icon next to Task Time in the details panel to adjust how long a stop takes. All subsequent stop times update automatically.
Move Multiple Stops at Once:
Hold Shift and select multiple stops, then drag them together to reorder or reassign them efficiently.
Add an Unscheduled Stop to a Route:
Drag an unscheduled stop into a route to include it in the plan.Remove a Stop from the Routeplan
If a stop no longer fits into the route plan, you can remove it and return it to the Unscheduled section.
To remove a stop:
Open the Route Details page.
Locate the stop in the list.
Drag and drop the stop into the Unscheduled section on the map.
Alternative method:
Click on the stop and select “Remove from Route” from the action options. This can be helpful when a specific booking (transport unit) needs to be replanned or postponed.
Delete a Route from the Routeplan
If you no longer need a route, you can delete it — either after emptying it, or directly with all stops included.
Two ways to delete a route:
1. Empty the Route First
Move all stops away from the route by dragging them onto the map (to make them unscheduled) or placing them on another route
Hover over the route name
Click the trashcan icon that appears
Confirm by pressing Delete Route
2. Delete the Route with Stops Included
Press the trashcan icon on the route name
You will be prompted to confirm the deletion
When confirmed, all stops on the route will be automatically unscheduled and placed at the bottom of the map
You can reassign them later as needed
Note: Undo Available: In case you regret the deletion, you can still use the Undo option to reinstate the deleted route along with its stops.
Guard Rails and Violations
Violation Alerts:
Red dots will appear on stops or routes if there are issues like overcapacity or timing conflicts.Hover for Details:
Hover over a red dot to see a warning message explaining the problem.Override Violations:
You can manually approve routes with violations when necessary.
Using the route plan created with Drag & Drop
Once you are happy with your Drag and Drop changes, you approve the route. This action will allow the routes to be created as per your specifications. It takes a little time, as visualized by the status supplied in the Approval button after it is activated. The status will go to “Approving” and count up the number of routes as they are being created.
When the status is displayed as “Approved”, the links to the routes will be available in the Route details page.
Tips and Best practices
✅ Do:
- Use keyboard shortcuts for faster navigation
- Check for violation alerts (red dots) after making changes
- Use the Undo/Redo buttons if you make a mistake
- Review the bottom bar metrics (driving time, distance, weight, volume) after changes
❌ Avoid:
- Moving Refills to the beginning of routes (not extensively supported)
- Making too many simultaneous changes at once
- Ignoring violation warnings without understanding their impact
FAQs
FAQs
Can I move a pickup stop to a different route?
Yes, you can drag and drop a pickup stop to change its position within the route or assign it to a different route.
Important: If you move a pickup stop, all related deliveries will be moved automatically as well.
How do I add a break to my route manually?
You can now add breaks manually by dragging and dropping the Break card from the unscheduled panel onto any route. The task time is automatically taken from the break settings for the vehicle group on that route. If no breaks are configured, the default is 30 minutes.
Can I edit how long a stop takes?
Yes, click the pencil icon next to Task Time in the details panel to adjust how long a stop takes. All subsequent stop times will update automatically based on your change.
What happens if I move a stop to the beginning of a route?
When the first stop on a route has a wide timeframe interval, the system will always assume that the driver will arrive at the latest possible moment within that timeframe. This is expected behavior and is consistent across Route Planning and Routes. Moving certain stop types (like Refills) to the front of routes is not extensively supported and may cause unexpected behavior with arrival times.
Can I approve a route even if it has violations?
Yes, you can manually approve routes with violations when necessary. However, you should review the violation details carefully before overriding them to ensure operational safety and compliance.
What types of violations might I see?
Common violations include:
Capacity violations: Weight or volume exceeds vehicle capacity
Time window violations: Stop timing conflicts with delivery timeframes
Working time violations: Route exceeds maximum allowed working time (e.g., with charging stops)
Tag violations: Required tags are missing or incorrectly assigned
Why do I see duplicate pickup stops on my route?
This can happen when the vehicle start location and order pickup location have coordinates that are close but not identical (e.g., approximately 270 meters apart). The system's address matching tolerance determines whether locations are considered "the same address." If you're experiencing this issue consistently, contact support for investigation.
